While a good washing machine is supposed to give your load of laundry a thorough soaping and soaking, we expect that upon completion it will wring out as much moisture as possible with a good spin cycle, taking the load of work off the dryer’s shoulders, so to speak. Opening the washer only to find your clothes still sopping wet, however, just leads to headaches and confusion. What could be causing this, and how do we solve it?
Washer Spin Issue
One of the primary culprits here may be that the washer isn’t performing a proper spin cycle. The easiest way to address this on your own is to make sure the spinning drum wasn’t overloaded in the last wash. If you have a large item in there such as a blanket, consider taking the weight out and giving the spin cycle another go, then use smaller loads for future washes.
Washer Spinning Drum Issue
One of the primary culprits here may be that the washer isn’t performing a proper spin cycle. If you have a large item in there such as a blanket, consider taking the weight out and giving the spin cycle another go, then use smaller loads for future washes.
If this still doesn’t resolve the matter, then it may be a loose drum belt that some appliance owners feel comfortable addressing on their own. If the belt has snapped, or the spin motor itself isn’t initiating, then you may require the services of a professional.
Washer Pump Issue
If the drum is spinning, then your washer pump might not be draining water throughout the cycle properly. Make sure the end isn’t blocked – some use a lint guard which might have filled up if not cleaned regularly. If it’s clear, then the pump motor may need to be serviced.
If both motors are working as intended, then it may be a settings issue: if the start button is stuck in a depressed mode or there’s another issue with your system buttons, the washer may be returning to its wash mode after completing the cycle normally. Watch the washer carefully to see if it’s restarting after it completes its normal run. If you need a washing machine repair contact WeFix.
